The remedē™ System is designed to restore a more natural breathing pattern at night so Heart Failure patients get the sleep they need to feel better during the day.

What is the remedēTM System:

The remedēTM System is an implantable medical device that is being investigated in clinical research studies for the treatment of Central Sleep Apnea.

It consists of two implantable components:

  • remedēTM Pulse Generator that is implanted under the skin below the collarbone. Similar to a pacemaker, it is a small, sealed device that contains a battery and electronics and delivers small electrical pulses.
  • remedēTM Leads deliver pulses as well as deliver information back to the pulse generator. The leads are made of insulated wires and are implanted in the veins.

The remedē System also includes a Programmer which is a computer used by a physician to monitor information from the implanted system and to non-invasively change the pulse generator settings.

How It Works:

The remedē Lead is positioned within a vein close to the phrenic nerve.  The phrenic nerve is connected to the diaphragm, a large breathing muscle.  The remedē Pulse Generator delivers small electrical pulses via the lead to the phrenic nerve.  The diaphragm responds to these signals from the phrenic nerve resulting in a more natural breathing pattern.

The remedē System is designed to deliver electrical pulses at night during sleep to restore more natural breathing.
